Practical session on migration from VAT to GST being held for MSMEs in Kolkata

Kolkata, Nov 30 (KNN) The Directorate of Commercial Taxes, West Bengal, is holding a practical session of transition from VAT system to GST system for MSMEs on December 1, 2016.

Nandini Ghosh, Senior Joint Commissioner Commercial Taxes, WBCTS, Directorate of Commercial Taxes (FR) will make a technical presentation on Migration from VAT to GST System.

Industry body FOSMI is facilitating the meeting for the representatives handling the tax matters from its member MSME units.

The Goods & Services Tax Network (GSTN) has started migrating existing VAT payers into GST system to allot a provisional Identification Number.

The Directorate of Commercial Taxes, West Bengal, in a letter to the industry associations has said that the dealers registered under the West Bengal Value Added Tax Act, 2003, would be able to log into GST common web portal and furnish required information for GST enrolment from November 30, 2016 to December 15, 2016.

Several presentations have already been made by the department at several places outside Kolkata for different stake-holders.

  1. All existing dealers under VAT Act,West Bengal are required to create valid credentials for GSTN Portal for successful & smooth migration.
